Carol Chow Carson

The Center For Families has been a great resource for me and my daughter. I heard about the Center For Families when I first took my daughter to the infant massage program. We've participated in a number of playgroups and programs and have had wonderful experiences. I love the amazing community aspect. For me it's being able to connect with other parents, whether it's at playgroup or park, and for my daughter, it's making friends and seeing her play happily with other children from the community. I am excited to give back to the Friends of the Center for Family, and looking forward to supporting and helping FCFF to be a stronger presence in our community.

I first heard of the Center for Families when my daughter was born in 2001, and I took her to a wonderful baby group there that provided me with much-needed support and connection. Several of the parents and kids I met in that group are still friends today!  As the years went on, I took advantage of the many great programs at the Center, and I saw what an important resource it was to me personally and to the community at large.  I got involved with the Friends of the Center for Families in 2010, because I believe that if the Center can maintain and expand its offerings, families get stronger and kids get long-lasting benefits from that strength!

I am a SAHM and have participated in tons of playgroups, workshops and family fun days run through the Center for Families and it has been a vital resource for my family, parenting, and building our network of family friends. I want to help support it back and build a strong community for Cambridge families by increasing awareness so other families can benefit and take advantage of the amazing offerings from CFF.

As a long-time Cambridge/Somerville resident, and now a parent, I value our community more than ever.  I joined FCFF as a volunteer to help our community access this wonderful resource and support its growth. With over a decade of experience in education, as a special educator/advocate, literacy specialist, and now a director of an education non-profit, I hope to share my background and knowledge with FCFF and CFF.  When not enjoying what our city has to offer, I love to visit the mountains with my husband, daughter, and chocolate lab!

I am volunteering with the Friends of the Center for Families because I want to help serve the needs of the parents and children within the community. As a former sailing camp instructor, I understand the importance of programs that benefit both children and adults. I am currently a consultant and a former club sport fundraiser, so I am looking forward to using my skills to help give back to the community through FCFF.

I have been working in both research and special education for decades. I moved to Cambridge about 2 years ago and I have volunteered in Boston, Cambridge and Somerville. I look forward to learning and serving families with young children in the neighborhood community.

A mom of three and a PhD (in family resource centers!), I understand that supporting young families is important for everyone from the child to the entire community.  As a FCFF board member, I would love to see the Cambridge Center for Families succeed and grow.  As a mommy, I'm excited to be involved in Family Fun Day and events for kids and families around Cambridge.
